Happy Summer,
Aynsley.
The spring and summer months are by far the best seasons for outdoor furniture sales. Everyone is searching for that perfect rustic bench, rustic chair, rustic swing or rustic lounger that will give their outdoor living space a fresh and new look. I hope that the spring and summer seasons have brought you a lot of success in the outdoor living department.
As you know, AdenWorks teak furniture is the perfect compliment for outdoor living spaces. Teak wood is one of the most popular choices for wood furniture due to many factors. First of all, teak wood is very sturdy in various types of climates. The wood produces its own natural oils and is high in natural rubber, which wards off pesty bugs. Another positive aspect about the natural rubber produced by teak wood is that is allows for the furniture to be waterproof as well. Obviously these reasons clearly show why teak is such a popular choice for outdoor furniture. A type of wood furniture that can handle rain, snow, and sun, repels bugs and is waterproof speaks for itself.
I am sure that all of you who sold AdenWorks rustic teak furniture found it to be quite successful. After all, our goal is to help you sell lots of rustic furniture. Well, now the seasons are getting ready to change. Of course, here in Texas the temperatures aren’t going anywhere, but people are beginning to get a jump start on the fall.
With that in mind, you may want to double check with yourself to see if you are ready for the next holiday season. If you visit any of the big stores, you will find Halloween and Thanksgiving decorations out and we all know it won’t be long until Christmas trees start popping up everywhere.
Some people think this type of marketing it a bit rushed. People don’t get to fully enjoy seasons, holidays, etc because everyone is rushing off to the next big event. However, the stores are trying to stay ahead of the crowds in order to sell more product. So, with that being said, are you ready for fall?
When I think of the transitions between the seasons, I think of the family moving indoors for evening meals, cozy nights with loved ones, and spending time with the family. As the seasons begin to change, people start to think about the upcoming holidays. Do they have enough space to invite the family over to their home this holiday season? Are there enough beds? Do I have enough chairs? The questions can go on and on and on.
So as you are preparing to transition from outdoor to indoor furniture, double check yourself. Are you offering a variety of tables? Do you have enough different styled chairs to appeal to your customers? How about beds? Are you carrying enough? All of us know the stress of having family for the holidays. We all know the questions because we have all asked ourselves. So, really this is a friendly reminder for all of us. Make sure you are offering what the client needs, and staying ahead of the times.
As always we are here to supply you with the best rustic furniture. We offer various styles of furniture within each category: chairs, benches, tables, coffee tables, swings, bars, barstools, accessories, and lighting.

Well, summer is almost here and the weather is letting us know it. Here at AdenWorks we fondly refer to our offices and warehousing as Teak City! Teak City is a great place to be, and I can tell you we all love it here, but when the summer time comes look out! I am sure you have heard, Texas is one very hot place to be. But, Teak City must go on. Rustic Furniture must be designed, our one-of-a kind stain must be applied, and shipments must go out for all of our wonderful customers.
Speaking of our wonderful customers as well as to those of you who are considering AdenWorks rustic furniture, I hope you all had a wonderful Memorial weekend celebrating all of the men and women who have given their lives to providing us with a free country! I truly thank God for these brave souls. Hopefully you spent a lot of time with family and friends, and maybe even did a little BBQ.
This past weekend was a great time to spend with loved ones. Here in Texas we had pretty good weather so every time I went outside I could smell the tempting scents from the grill. At one point I had almost made up my mind that I would just let my nose lead me to some random person’s backyard just so I could participate in the feasting of burgers and ribs. (Better judgment soon kicked in.)
It is the weekends like this past one that make life so special and fond. Spending time with family and eating meals on the back porch. It just reminded me again of how our teak furniture truly can enhance family parties. It reminded me again of you as the retailers and designers who are truly seeking out furniture that is useful to your clients.
Well, there are many more cookouts to be had this summer time and many pool parties to come. So, be sure that your clients are ready by providing them with many different choices of rustic tables, rustic chairs, rustic loungers and other rustic outdoor furniture. After all, it is great to sit back and realize that the furniture which was purchased from your store, or incorporated in your design allowed many families to enjoy this past Memorial weekend together.
This spring and summer show your clients that there is hope for outdoor living spaces! Outdoor living is getting all the attention these days, forcing vendors to consistently provide new and exciting pieces for their clients’ backyards, lake houses, beach homes, and mountain retreats. Here at AdenWorks we are trying to provide you with rustic teak furniture that has new looks, new pieces and new ideas for you to provide for your clients.
People across the world are becoming more and more attracted to the great outdoors and its preservation. Mother Nature is getting a lot of attention right now, and it is well deserved. Due to all of the attention nature is receiving, people are beginning to take time to observe the true beauty and wonderful our world possesses. And now that it is springtime people want to spend all of their time outside enjoying the weather.
I have spoken about this in the past few blogs. I feel that it is such a critical point I wanted to spend some time today discussing it further. Most people want the inside of their home to be absolutely beautiful. The home speaks loudly about the person or family living there. It is a blank canvas where people can fully express themselves.
I was working recently with a photographer on a home shoot. We walked in and were overwhelmed by the beauty, style and sophistication of this home. We felt like we were at some luxury resort. Each room had been given acute detail in every element. We went around creating stunning pictures of this exquisite home.
However, then it came to the backyard shoot. We left the stunning home and entered their backyard complete with pool, fountains, fire pit lounge and two grilling stations. You would assume that with a house as beautiful as it was, the backyard would be equally stunning. Unfortunately, the backyard lacked the style, sophistication and uniqueness of the home. Instead the backyard was covered with tables, chairs and benches lacking character and flair. The inside of the home was filled with the personality of the family, but the outdoors looked like something you would see in an everyday garden magazine.
This morning I was thinking about the home and I realized why the backyard was so disappointing. The designer had put all the effort into the inside of the home and no effort on the outside of the home. So we went from exquisite to average. It was as if the outdoor furniture was an afterthought and unimportant. It was obvious that the homeowners had a lot of style and personality but their reflection was lost once you entered the backyard.
I believe that the home, in its entirety, should reflect the person, couple, or family, and I am sure that you as retailers and designers hold the same philosophy. If we didn’t we wouldn’t be offering furniture for both indoor and outdoor living spaces. So hopefully you will focus this spring and summer time on providing your clients with outdoor furniture that truly speaks to their character. You want to create an atmosphere where people are connected to particular pieces and styles. You want to offer unique, one-of-a-kind pieces. You want to present them with a new outlook on outdoor living and show them that their indoor spaces and backyard can intertwine through creative design.
As a designer, my goal is to create pieces that will appeal to your customers. Here at AdenWorks our hope is to reach your needs when it comes to rustic furniture. We want to consistently provide sturdy, eco-friendly, handmade, indoor and outdoor furniture that you can rely on.

Well April has come and is now almost gone, so spring is officially here. So, your customers have one thing on their minds right now… Spring Cleaning. Now, I am going to bet that most people reading this blog aren’t disinfectant and cleaning supplies businesses. Nope, most of you are designing a rustic retreat or trying to promote your rustic furniture store. Either way, that puts us all in the same boat – desiring to successfully promote rustic furniture, more specifically, eco-friendly rustic teak furniture.
Spring Cleaning… What a concept.
If you are like me, the idea of spring cleaning is exhilarating to the point where my family things I am just plain weird. (Then again, you probably aren’t like me.)
Then there are those of you who take on the cleaning because you have too.
And then finally, there are those of you who simply enjoy spring’s coming and going without a single thought of cleaning. So, in the end we all fall into one of these categories when it comes to spring cleaning.
But let’s talk about where you come in as a dealer whether retail, commercial or designer. The idea of spring cleaning can work to your advantage if you know how to attract the buyer. Of course your store isn’t full of various types of bleaches and cleaners but you do offer something that they want and may not realize until they overhaul their home.
Once people have begun and completed spring cleaning they begin to realize how much potential their home and outdoor living spaces have to offer. Before they attempted to tackle the house, it was cramped and a mess. But now it is pristine, and well, frankly in need of something new.
And that’s where you come in to the picture.

For the next few posts I want to focus on the Eco-Friendly aspect of AdenWorks. The green movement is rapidly spreading which is extremely encouraging. Our company strives to preserve the environment by building furniture from recycled teak wood. Recently, I added an Eco-Friendly logo to our website. You can click on this logo and learn more on our beliefs about keeping our furniture environmentally friendly. So, for the next few blogs, I want to focus on teak woods past and future.
Teak is considered to be one of the premier species of wood in the world. It has so many unique qualities such as its natural resistance to rotting and bug infestations. What you may not know is that teak is indigenous to only four countries: India, Burma (Myanmar), Lao PDR, and Thailand. Since our rustic, western and lodge furniture is constructed in Thailand, we thought we would take some time to address the condition of the teak forests of Thailand.
Before we get started, we want to remind you that our rustic, lodge, and western teak furniture is made predominately from recycled teakwood that was formerly used to construct everything from farm houses to farm implements. Another great thing about our rustic, western, lodge teak furniture is that it is constructed using teakwood that was harvested many years ago from natural aged teak forests rather than the lesser quality plantation grown teak. This makes our furniture dense and heirloom quality.
Since we are a conscientious eco-friendly manufacturer we thought you, whether a dealer, designer or commercial account, would like to get a brief historical overview of Thailand’s teak forests, their current condition and prospects for their future.
Thailand was once a country with lush teak forests found extensively in the north and stretches along the western border. For those of you who are more scientific, the entire range of forests extend from 14ºN to 20º31”N and west to east longitude 97º30É to 104º30”E at altitudes between 100-900 m above mean sea level. It was estimated that in 1954 teak along with other species in the mixed deciduous forest covered 9,297,300 ha of Thailand. It was estimated that approximately one-fourth of the forest land was teak bearing, representing roughly 2,324,300 ha. What determines the viability of growing teak and the speed of the growth are based on the following factors: rainfall/soil moisture, temperature, light, geographical formation and soil condition.
Environmentally speaking, everything was going quite well with such healthy forests winding through large portions of Thailand. Teak trees were flourishing to say the least. Unfortuantely though, the life of the forest took a turn for the worse. Tomorrow we will talk about what took place 15 years ago that greatly impacted the teak tree forests.

Adding upholstery to our rugged chairs, takes our rustic teak furniture to a whole new level. The softness, provided by the hide, adds more comfort and visual appeal. The wagon wheel rocker has been very popular since it was introduced at the last two markets.
Our wagon wheel rocker is made from two genuine quarter wagon wheels. These wheels increase its rustic appeal while adding a bit of history as well. The foot rest rail on the front of the chair make this piece a perfect place to rest after a long day. This piece has been very popular as an all-wooden rocker. Then we had the idea to upholster the piece which transformed it.
The Bronson Rocker is one of our first pieces from the Aynsley Collection. It was created with comfort and striking appeal in mind. The seat is covered in a comfy rich brown leather. The back of the rocker is upholstered in a brindle cowhide. The front of this piece is definitely eye-catching and one of a kind.
However, the front is not the only stunning part of this chair. This piece can be viewed from all sides without disappointing. It is the attention to detail that makes this chair so spectacular. The backside of the chair has been upholstered as well. This allows you to see through each of the slats to the brindle beneath.
With this chair and the other pieces in the Aynsley Collection, you have the option of choosing your own hide or leather for the upholstery. We offer brown and white cowhide, black and white cowhide, and brindle cowhide. However, if you or your client would prefer leather on leather or exotic hides, we can do that as well. Our goal here at AdenWorks is for you to be able to have our furniture fit within your showroom or projects.
At the Dallas Market and Las Vegas Market this piece was very popular. It is a perfect chair to come home to at the end of the day. So, relax and unwind on our comfortable rocking chair.

As a designer or rustic furniture, I am constantly trying to come up with new ideas and different looks that aren’t necessarily expected. This type of mindset has proven to be successful as our designs are doing quite well in stores and commercial settings. Rustic furniture remains a popular choice among all types of buyers.
If you have been keeping up with my blogs you know that we have anxiously been awaiting the debut of our new collection, the Aynsley Collection. This collection is a blend of soft and rugged through cowhide and rustic teak. We were so excited about introducing these pieces at the past Dallas and Las Vegas Market. We could not wait for their debut.
Well, now you know what we have been up to lately. I wanted to make our new collection a surprise for buyers. It has been a success! The dining chairs are the Arabella Chair and the Winston Chair. We also have a rocking chair called the Hudson Rocker. Obviously we have other pieces in the works that hopefully will debut at the markets in the summer.
Today I just wanted to spend some time talking about the Arabella Chair. This piece was designed with the feminine spirit in mind. I wanted to take the rustic feel of teak wood a soften it by a dramatically curved, hourglass back. To heighten the feminine factor, I added hide on hair. This was the first chair I designed and from that point on I knew that a collection was in order.
This chair caught the most attention at both of the shows. Its unique modern shape combined with rustic teak creates a chair that appeals to your senses. This chair is quite versatile. It can be placed with a rugged dining room table to dress it up, or it can stand alone in an entryway or living room space. Either way this chair will be a top seller in your store.
AdenWorks is thrilled to introduce our new line. We look forward to what the future holds.
