Is your storefront in the mountains, on a beach, in a bustling city, in a quiet town, near a desert, in the plains or on a ranch? Then teakwood is for you!
I know it may be hard to believe, but our furnishings truly are a match for any climate. Teakwood can withstand the harshest or calmest of weather. Moreover, all of the teak we use is recycled. What does that mean? It means all of our teak has been used in the past. Some of the plows, ox carts and wagon wheels were in use for generations before we even laid eyes on it. For you, this means you can tout your furniture as a timeless piece that will surely be in use for generations to come.
Allow your customers to imagine their great grandkids enjoying the very table that they served Thanksgiving dinner on. Purchasing AdenWorks’ teak for your store’s floor means adding something your competitors don’t have: a story. Let our recycled pieces give your storefront an edge on the furniture market, and make this fall your best ever!
AdenWorks’ teak furniture is going brown, red, black, gold… and green?
Yes, we are ‘going green,’ and have been for the past ten years. Before going green was a fad and used as an advertising scam, AdenWorks was practicing sustainability. We didn’t start going green because it was popular or because we had to. We went green because we care: about you, about our world.
How do we do it? First and foremost, our teak is all recycled. This means that we implement wagon wheels, ox carts, and plows in our designs. AdenWorks is not chopping down trees and uselessly destroying natural landscapes. We utilize teak that has been in use by farmers for generations. Why should we use new teakwood when the old is more durable, has more character and has its own story to tell?
Using recycled teak is obviously the forefront of our sustainability program. Another way we are “going green” lies in our use of leathers. Our leathers and other hides are byproducts of the food industry. It might make you squeamish to think about food byproduct, but it makes us excited! We have the beauty of cowhides without needlessly stealing from the environment.
But how else are we green? For our hand-staining, our craftsmen use eco-friendly rags. Also, have you ordered from us lately? We try to save paper any way we can, and emailing your invoice is one way we keep from being wasteful. As I write this blog post, the lights in my office are turned off to save energy. Who needs to use energy when the natural light is flooding in?
We are always looking decrease our impact on the environment. Whether its as major as using recycled teak and eco-friendly staining procedures or as simple as emailing an invoice, AdenWorks promises to maintain a high code of environmentally-friendly ethics.
When you buy our teak furniture, you can rest assured that not only are you receiving quality furniture, but you are helping to maintain nature’s beauty.
Now, the most popular piece this summer was actually a furniture setting. Once again, we had trouble keeping enough of these in stock because they were such a hot item this summer. And that hot item would be our Wind River Bistro Set and Side Ash Barstools. This bistro table is magnificent with the stain. Between each genuine wagon wheel spoke is inlay displaying the beauty and color variation of the teakwood. This table is a beautiful piece with its wagon wheel top and striking base. When you pair the Side Ash Bar Chair with the Wind River Bistro Table you have the perfect combination. This Side Ash Bar Chair is a beautiful handcrafted chair which has wagon wheel spokes and ox bows incorporated into its design. The end result is a stunning chair with an equally stunning table.
So, now you know what’s been hot with all of our wonderful customers. We hope that this information helps you as you prepare for the fall. As always, if you need help deciding on which pieces to put on your showroom floor, please feel free to contact us.
I can’t believe how fast the summer has flown by. Before you know it school will be starting up again! I am sure all you parents out there can’t wait. Before summer turns into fall I wanted to let you all know that most popular piece for the summer. This summer it is actually a setting that caught everyone’s eye. While AdenWorks has shipped a variety of pieces across the United States there were three pieces that proved the most popular over the last few months.
Before we get into this summer’s winner, let’s start with the runner up. This year our runner up is a very well-known and highly appreciated styled known for its distinct lines and exaggerated pitch. This summer’s runner up is our Adirondack Garden Chair. This is a beautiful rugged twist on the traditional styled Adirondack chair. This piece is composed of recycled teak wood and plow handles to create one-of-a-kind pieces, each with their own distinct personality. The beauty of this chair is appreciated because of the multiple pieces of teak wood used to compose the piece. The wood grain and color variations change from each piece of wood. Not only do we offer this beautiful chair, but we also have a Adirondack Bench which compliments the Adirondack Garden Chair quite nicely. We had a hard time keeping these pieces in stock this summer. Every time we got another shipment in, they were sold almost immediately.
All teak is made equal… right? Wrong! All teak is not made equal, and at AdenWorks, we have set out to offer you the highest quality, most stunning pieces in the industry.
Here is how we do it:
First, all of our teak arrives to our Dallas-based warehouse unfinished So, it hasn’t been stained. This process allows us a strict quality control, something on which we pride ourselves.
After arriving, our craftsmen hand-sand and hand-stain each piece. We debuted our custom stain in January of 2010, and for those of you who have not tried the new stain on your floor, this fall is your ideal time!
Having been in the furniture business for over ten years, AdenWorks is well-versed in the art of staining. Our in-house designer and craftsmen joined forces to develop a stain that highlights the natural elements of teak. Our stain emphasizes teak’s fluid grain along with its rich golds, browns, reds and blacks.
After the stain is applied, it’s time to seal the piece. If you order a piece for the outdoors, our craftsmen use a dual coat of polyurethane to protect the piece from the elements.
If your piece is for the home, you have two options in polyurethane. One look offers a matte, more rustic feel, while the other provides a bit more sheen to the furniture.
Whatever your needs, AdenWorks is here to make your floor the best it can be. Try out the new stain, you and your customers won’t be disappointed!
With spring having arrived everyone is beginning to move family gatherings, birthday parties and evening dinners outside. What a wonderful time of the year where we call all enjoy long warm Saturdays and beautiful weather. Since all of us are taking our activities outside, I thought it would be appropriate to talk about outdoor furniture, specifically, outdoor teak furnishings.
This time of year one of the most common questions I hear is: Can the teak furniture go outside and if so does it require maintenance?
So, I thought I should write a blog answering this common question while also providing a few tidbits for you.
So, let me begin with a bit of background on the teakwood.
As many of you know AdenWorks specializes in reclaimed teak furniture. This means that our designs incorporate restored antique teakwood:
- Some of the pieces were used in an earlier life as farming implements such as the wagon wheels, hubs, ox yokes, plow handles, fence posts, troughs, etc.
- Other pieces, such as table tops, are handcrafted from dilapidated teakwood barns.
- It is obvious that teak is a very hard dense wood since it was the chosen wood for farming implements and barns.
Teak wood is one of the most treasured woods available for several reasons:
- First: Teak is high in natural rubber which repels water and pests.
- Second: Teak is hard and dense making it highly durable for years and years.
- Third: Teak has a stunning wood grain creating beautiful patterns throughout the wood.
- Fourth: Teak has an amazing color palette of browns, reds, golds and blacks allowing it to compliment various types of décor.
OK, so now that I have shared the background on teakwood, specifically reclaimed teakwood, let’s look at how it relates to the outdoors.
There are two ways you can handle your outdoor teak furniture.
The first is simple. You can do nothing to the furniture. You can let it sit outside in the elements and it will turn a silver grey. The determinant on how quickly the furniture will turn depends on the amount of sunlight and water the furniture receives. If you decide later that you need a change from the grey, the furniture can be stained again. Before applying stain, lightly sand the furniture with the grain.
The second option is for those of you who want to maintain the furniture they way you received it. If you are placing furniture out in the elements keep an eye on it. You will need to see how long it takes for the furniture to begin showing the effects of sun and water. When you see that the furniture is beginning to look a bit worn you will know it is time for some maintenance. You will want to apply Minwax Helmsman Spar Urethane. We suggest that you do 2 coats each time you go to refresh the furniture. Follow the simple directions on the can for proper use.

By now, you may have heard that AdenWorks is changing how we do things. All of our changes are taking place with you in mind. One of the big changes is our new catalog designed to help you move more product. Catalogs are being mailed out weekly. If you have not received yours, please contact us.
BRAND NEW CUSTOM STAIN
Our most exciting change is our new custom finish. Since many of you have not had the chance to visit our warehouse in person, I thought I would walk you through our preparation process with some pictures straight from AdenWorks’ Dallas-based warehouse. The photographs feature one of our popular 75″ Lazy Susan Tables.
The AdenWorks’ team is obsessed with quality. Our quest for quality begins with our designer’s sketchbook and from there we closely monitor our manufacturing.
PREP WORK
Every single piece of furniture that enters our warehouse is thoroughly inspected. After the pieces are examined, AdenWorks’ craftsmen make adjustments as needed ensuring the high test level of quality. Each piece will then be examined again before heading off to be sanded.
SANDING
The sanding process, although tedious, is what elevates AdenWorks’ teak furnishings. Strategic areas of the furniture are sanded such as table tops, arm rests and seats. Our goal is to make our furniture functional and comfortable while not depleting the handcrafted and reclaimed beauty of our furniture.
Once the sanding is complete, our craftsmen begin the hand-staining process with an oil-based stain to enhance the natural beauty, grain and colors of the teak wood. The furniture is then set aside to cure. Lastly, a final coat of protectant is applied.
As you can see, each piece of furniture you order is given a great amount of attention and care before it arrives at your doorstep. If you haven’t experienced our new custom finish, find out today why customers just like you are so excited about our brand new look.
It’s funny how a few Saturdays back I took a look outside and thought I saw snow gathering in the trees and bushes. I figured I was just tired and as seeing things since it was dark outside, but when I looked closer I realized it was really snowing again! How could this be? Snow in Dallas on the official first day of spring. This has been a truly amazing winter for Dallas with the second largest snowfall ever. While the snow is a beautiful phenomenon for Dallas I can say that I am ready for spring and it looks like we might be on our way. It was snowing yesterday and today it’s in the 70’s. I don’t know about you, but I am ready to be out in the beautiful sunshine at a BBQ with friends or poolside with a book.
Lately I have found myself just itching to get out in my backyard to begin planting and making my yard come to life again. I have all of these thoughts of redesigning my yard and patio. With spring comes spring cleaning – a wonderful time of the year that although requires a lot of work, the end results are awesome. I am sure that many of you, and more importantly your customers, are feeling the same way. They will be out and about shopping not only for plants but for new furnishings to give an updated look to their home inside and out.

Over the years, AdenWorks has worked hard to improve our products. We want to offer you the best teak fine furnishings available. To that end, one of the main things we have devoted ourselves to is our stain.
Teak is one of the most beautiful woods available. There are several things that make teakwood so appealing. To begin the wood grain is flat out stunning. I love to step away into the warehouse from time to time to observe the teak. Some of the most prominent places to observe our teak is on our table tops, especially the Bardean Table. This table is made from old disregarded barn wood planks which have been crafted into table tops. For me personally, this is my favorite table to top to examine because of the amazing wood grains running along the planks. That patters and movement created are breathtaking.
The second characteristic of teak making it so desirable is its color palette. You see teakwood is made up of several different tones and colors. In one single piece of teakwood you can have colors ranging from blondes, browns, reds and blacks.
The combination of the swirling grain patterns along with the four-toned color palette creates magnificent, one-of-a-kind pieces of fine furniture. What I have just described is not only the most amazing aspect of teak, but also one of the most challenging. And that leads us to the stain.
You see, with all the various colors within teak, finding the perfect stain to enhance and complement each of these hues can be quite the challenge. So, for quite some time AdenWorks has been testing, developing and perfecting our stain. Needless to say, throughout the process we learned a lot and we made a lot of changes.
The biggest change is that AdenWorks developed its own custom stain and staining process. After a great amount of time testing and perfecting we developed a stain that truly enhances teakwood. Our furniture finish is like no other on the market. Now the teakwood grain and various color tones are enhanced by our custom stain making the furniture more beautiful than before.
Secondly we changed the way our stain is applied. Every piece of furniture is now stained in our Dallas-based warehouse to ensure the highest level of quality control. So every piece of AdenWorks furniture receives a great deal of attention before it is sent out to you because every piece is hand-stained by our craftsmen.
For the past 10 years, AdenWorks has received hundreds of compliments on our teak furniture, but I can honestly say that our furniture has never looked better than it does now. I am looking forward to getting some of our freshly stained pieces onto your showroom floors because I know each piece will be a success.
AdenWorks is committed to serving you and to doing whatever it takes to make you successful. We have spent several years perfecting our stain, and we can’t wait for you to see the difference.
